The weight of „I do“

Marriage was never high on my list
More of a necessity rather than a wish
If I wanted kids, then it was part of it
Yet it remained nothing more than this

Until I got to meet You
I didn’t know it then
But You are the One who would change everything
Changed the way I viewed this

You showed me the real meaning of it
The reality of the marriage covenant
The reality of husband and wife
The weight of “yes I do”

You said it first before I ever knew
That You are the One who knows me through and through
The One that would help me see
That there is more for me

And with that understanding, I get to see
That before another, it will always be you and me
For You are my Maker, my husband indeed
The Lord of hosts and my redeemer forever it will be

As husband and wife, we shall never depart
You will never let go of me
Always and forever that will be
You and me until eternity
